Tics
Tics appear throughout all regions of Europe and can transfer diseases such as Babesiosis and Ehrlichiosis. Ticks are also prevalent in the Netherlands. Proper anti-parasitic treatment can prevent your pet from becoming tick infested.

Sand flies
Sand flies are prevaleert mainly in Southern Europe. They are vector for Leishmania, a parasite that causes chronici illness in dogs. Proper anti-parasitic treatment can prevent your pet from getting Leishmania.

Heart worms
All regions south of Belgium have mosquito's that can transfer Heart worms to cats and dogs.  Proper anti-parasitic treatment can prevent your pet from getting sick.

Tape worm
These parasites are a threat to dogs, cats and humans (zoonosis). The intake of worm eggs (from the hair coat of the dog, or from wild fruits) can lead to illness. Proper anti-parasitic treatment can prevent your pet from getting sick and making you sick. 

Concretely: what do I need to do?

  1. Rabies vaccination: this vaccination needs to be administered 21 days prior to your departure.

  2. Anti-parasitic treatment for ectoparasites: our veterinary nurses can help you in choosing the most suitable product.

  3. Anti-parasitic treatment for endoparasites (such as worms): our veterinary nurses can help you in choosing the most suitable product. Your de-worming routine is different according to the length of your stay abroad:
    1-28 days: deworm on the day you come home and 1 month after.
    > 28 days: deworm monthly during your stay, on the day you come home and 1 month after.
